Who ARE these people?

The Kid's Book Blog is updated and maintained by the youth services staff of St. Mary's County Library.

Ms. Tess works at the Charlotte Hall branch. She grew up all over the place because she was an Army brat! When she was little, she wanted to grow up to be a pirate. Her favorite food is donuts. She has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Her favorite children's picture book ever is Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. If you have any questions or comments about the Kid's Book Blog, feel free to e-mail her at tgoldwasser@stmalib.org

Ms. Jill works at the Lexington Park branch. She grew up in Calvert County. When she was little, she wanted to grow up to be a horse trainer, baker, farmer, or aerospace engineer (but is very glad she grew up to be a librarian instead). She is a licensed pilot, and likes to take her friends for airplane rides. Her favorite children's picture book ever (which was really hard to pick because she loves so many) is The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch.

Ms. Sue works at the Leonardtown branch. She grew up in Brandywine. When she was little, she wanted to grow up to be a hairdresser, just like her favorite aunt. Her favorite foods are shrimp and crab. One of her favorite things to do is sketch, and draw people and things for fun. Her favorite children's picture book ever is The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg (she and her family read it before bed on Christmas Eve every year as a family tradition).

Ms. Carol works at the Charlotte Hall branch. That is all we know about her. We suspect she might be too shy to describe herself on the internet. She might have a secret identity, as a librarian super hero. Or a long lost fairy princess, in hiding from an evil sorcerer. Or something.
Ms. Brenda works at the Charlotte Hall branch. She grew up in Maryland. When she was little, she wanted to grow up to be a wife and mom (she has fulfilled her dream). Her favorite foods are steamed crabs (especially if they come in "feast" form) and stuffed peppers. She loves gardening. She doesn't have a *favorite* children's picture book, and says "Unfortunately I didn't discover the joy of reading until I was in my early 20's, but to my credit I've never been without a book since!"

Mr. Eric works at the Leonardtown branch. He has lived in southern Maryland for many years, but when he was younger he lived in England. When he was little he wanted to grow up to be Superman! His favorite food is sushi. When he thinks no one is looking, he pretends to fight ninjas. His favorite children’s picture book is The Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg.

Ms. Sam works at the Lexington Park branch. She grew up in Maryland. When she was little, she wanted to be a Spanish teacher. Her favorite foods are mac and cheese, PB and J with chips inside, and any other food that reminds her of being a kid. In her spare time she loves to play tennis, paint, play with her puppy, and be on (or in!) the water. Her favorite children’s picture book has always been Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss, but maybe it’s because the main character is named Sam!

Ms. Karen works at the Lexington Park branch. She was born in Connecticut and grew up in Annapolis. When she was little she wanted to be a cowgirl, like Dale Evans! Her favorite place is the beach. She loves kayaking, cats, gardening, and lots and lots of books. One her most favorite children's picture books is The Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen.
