Ms. Tess works at the Charlotte Hall branch. She grew up all over the place because she was an Army brat! When she was little, she wanted to grow up to be a pirate. Her favorite food is donuts. She has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Her favorite children's picture book ever is Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. If you have any questions or comments about the Kid's Book Blog, feel free to e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org
Ms. Jill works at the Leonardtown branch. She grew up in Calvert County. When she was little, she wanted to grow up to be a horse trainer, baker, farmer, or aerospace engineer (but is very glad she grew up to be a librarian instead). She is a licensed pilot, and likes to take her friends for airplane rides. Her favorite children's picture book ever (which was really hard to pick because she loves so many) is The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch.
Ms. Sue works at the Leonardtown branch. She grew up in Brandywine. When she was little, she wanted to grow up to be a hairdresser, just like her favorite aunt. Her favorite foods are shrimp and crab. One of her favorite things to do is sketch, and draw people and things for fun. Her favorite children's picture book ever is The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg (she and her family read it before bed on Christmas Eve every year as a family tradition).
Mr. Eric works at the Leonardtown branch. He has lived in southern Maryland for many years, but when he was younger he lived in England. When he was little he wanted to grow up to be Superman! His favorite food is sushi. When he thinks no one is looking, he pretends to fight ninjas. His favorite children’s picture book is The Mysteries of Harris Burdick by Chris Van Allsburg.
Ms. Karen works at the Lexington Park branch. She was born in Connecticut and grew up in Annapolis. When she was little she wanted to be a cowgirl, like Dale Evans! Her favorite place is the beach. She loves kayaking, cats, gardening, and lots and lots of books. One of her most favorite children's picture books is The Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen.
Ms. Josie works at the Leonardtown branch. She grew up in Yorktown, Virginia. When she was little she wanted to grow up to be a marine biologist so she could swim in the ocean all day. Her favorite food is pizza with basil and lots of garlic. In her free time, she loves to take long walks with her two basset hounds. Her children’s picture book is The Berenstain Bears and The Spooky Old Tree by Stan and Jan Berenstain (she fondly remembers the many times she requested her mother read it in the "bestest, most spookiest voice ever").
Ms. Andrea works at the Lexington Park branch. Andrea was born in the great land of Idaho (yes we grow potatoes) and Washington (state, not DC) then traveled cross country to live in Virginia and now Maryland. When she was little she wanted to grow up to be a restaurant owner. Her favorite foods are nachos and chocolate, but not chocolate nachos. Since moving to the East coast, she has fallen in love with lighthouses and searching for sea glass. An interesting fact about Andrea is that she intentionally offsets her clocks so they tick at different speeds. She would love to live in a lighthouse filled with sea glass, books, and offset ticking clocks. Her favorite children’s picture book is Big Bad Baby by Bruce Hale (because big bad babies need love too).
Ms. Shannon works at the Lexington Park branch. She grew up in Suffolk, Virginia. When she was little, she wanted to grow up to be a rock star. Her favorite food is grilled vegetables. She loves gardening and cooking. Her favorite children's picture book is A Dark Dark Tale by Ruth Brown.
