How to Lose a Lemur

Submitted by Ms. Sara!
“Everyone knows that once a lemur takes a liking to you, there is not much that can be done about it.” So begins How to Lose a Lemur by Frann Preston-Gannon, story of a boy who encounters a lemur one day in the park. The lemur follows him and, despite the boy’s best efforts, will not leave him be. In fact, the lemur is joined by other lemurs, who all just want to play! The boy tries all kinds of things to lose the lemurs. He hops a train leaving town, flies off in a hot air balloon, climbs the highest mountain in the snow, and more. Soon, he realizes he is far from home and lost. Luckily, the lemurs can show him the way back home! With big, bright illustrations, this book is perfect for reading with little ones who will enjoy finding the lemurs on each page and imagining the adventures the narrator is having on his quest to lose the lemurs. How to Babysit a Grandma

Submitted by Ms. Sue!
How to Babysit a Grandma by Jean Reagan and illustrated by Lee Wildish. If you’re lucky, when you babysit Grandma, you might get to spend the night! There are many tips for babysitting Grandma. You can start by using your secret tap that only she knows. Then, after saying goodbye to your parents, you can tell Grandma all the things you have planned. As the babysitter you will have to let her choose. Push her on the swings, feed the ducks, and slide down the slide. You can sing a duet, or line up her shoes to play shoe shop. After you eat, and it starts to get dark, take her outside to see the first star. Snuggle and read. Choose a place to sleep. If she’s missing Mom and Dad, tell her they will be back tomorrow bright and early. At goodbye time give her a big hug! And before you leave, be sure to ask: “When can I babysit you again?” See this book listed in our catalog
